With Omangwa Safaris, you will experience the famous gorilla trekking safaris by actively searching for the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga gorilla National Park. You will be led by expert ranger guides through the trails inside some of the world’s densest jungles. With your gorilla permit secured in advance, and exclusive access to remote areas, clients can witness these magnificent primates up close.
The mountain gorillas basically dwell in rugged mountainous regions, however, trekkers can find them in the 12 gorilla families. These are habituated gorillas, implying that they now feel less threatened in the presence of humans. This ensures that you can take photos close to them, but without physical contact of any form.
Uganda has at least 50% of the world’s total population of mountain gorillas with Bwindi Impenetrable National Park alone comprised of at least 400 out of the 1063 existing individuals.

Uganda alone is home to at least 1,010 bird species that constitute over 10% of Africa’s total bird population, which makes Uganda a birding haven. Approximately, 10% of East Africa’s total bird population are found in Uganda alone, these include 7 of the 20 species of hornbills, 10 flycatcher species, 5 of the 20 bush family, 8 finch species, 5 of the 14 species of honey guides, 4 tinker birds, 3 nightjars and 13 members of the thrush family, 3 cuckoos, 3 kingfishers and 3 sparrow hawks. The range of bird species is found in its various ecosystems such as savannahs, lowland and montane forests, wetlands or marshlands, afro-alpine zones, and semi desert. Each of these ecosystems encompass respective bird species.
