Day by Da Program

Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Nyerere National Park and Rufiji River afternoon cruise

Begin the day very early in the morning with a pick-up in Dar es Salaam and embark on a scenic drive of about four and a half to five hours to Nyerere National Park arriving in the perfect time for your lunch. Check-in at your pre-arranged lodge and later in the afternoon continue to Rufiji River for a boat cruise. The boat cruise takes two to three hours on water while you explore the Park’s aquatic life for example pods of hippopotamuses, large crocodiles hauled out along the River’s sandbanks and a variety of water birds such as the malachite kingfishers, African fish eagle, African skimmer, Goliath herons and many more. Later, return to your lodge to have dinner and an overnight stay waiting to cover the Park’s open grassy plains in the next morning.

Day 2: Full day Nyerere game viewing

Today wake up to a scrumptious breakfast as early as 6:30am and meet your driver guide to hit the Park’s plains in a 4×4 safari vehicle for your whole day wildlife experience. This safari specialized vehicle will help you navigate the Park’s open grasslands, dense woodlands, and palm fringed channels while you observe several wildlife species across these changing terrains. Expect to spot the Big Five animals as well as other animal species like the African wild dogs, greater kudus, water bucks, leopards, giraffes, zebras, impalas and many more. Break off to enjoy your bush lunch in the middle of the jungle before later proceed to spot more wildlife species including the Park’s bird life. You will have ample time to capture the sunset before returning to your lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Day 3: Guided walking safari and departure

After breakfast early in the morning, you will head out for your last activity in the Park where you will walk on foot being accompanied by an armed ranger and a guide as you look forward to cover small things that you seem to skim past while in the vehicle. Along the tracks, spot animal dungs, termite mounds, insects and several plant species up-close while you keep a respectful distance to Big game rather than approaching them. Check-out and hit the road for your drive back to Dar es Salaam while you expect to have your lunch along the way. Drop off at your hotel in Dar es Salaam will be in the late afternoon or opt for a free onward transfer to the Airport for your flight back home.
