Overview
3 Days Gorilla Habituation Uganda is entirely a great opportunity for you to enjoy up to 4 hours face-to-face with a family of mountain gorillas while in their natural habitat. This unusual gorilla safari itinerary introduces you to the Rushaga sector, the Southern region of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
During gorilla habituation, you will be visiting the semi-habituated gorilla group and this experience is only done in Bwindi National Park. A maximum of 4 visitors are assigned to visit one group of mountain gorillas and the main aim is to make these apes get familiar to human presence before they are officially opened to normal gorilla trekking.
Rushaga sector is one of the Southern gorilla trekking sectors in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It is a region known for its exhilarating gorilla adventures and also accommodates several habituated gorilla families. These include Kutu, Rwigi, Busingye, Mucunguzi, Nshongi gorilla group.
Day by Day Program
Day 1: Leave Kampala or Entebbe by car for Rushaga sector in Bwindi
Meet and greet our company safari guide at the hotel and by this time, you would have already taken your breakfast. A short briefing about your 3-day trip to Rushaga will be done by the safari leader and after, begin your road trip.
It will be a long day drive from Kampala-Rushaga and expect to spend from 8-9 hours but you won’t be left in boredom. En-route, you will be having stopovers at the Equator crossing, have adequate time to take pictures or perform a water experiment to determine the two hemispheres –the North & Southern hemispheres.
From Kayabwe, drive to Igongo cultural centre or hotel in Mbarara for lunch. After lunch break, continue up to Rushaga region navigating via a spectacular hillside of Uganda. Arrive early and check in your pre-booked accommodation property for evening relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Enjoy the long day gorilla habituation experience & relax at the lodge
Enjoy a hefty breakfast early morning and after, you will be transferred to Rushaga for briefing about gorilla habituation experience guidelines and for the park official to allocate the park guide to take you through the long day adventure. Before the actual search for massive mountain gorillas, ensure that you have a pack of lunch, snacks, and bottled water.
Your gorilla habituation excursion may run for half day/full day and you will have adequate time to explore in depth about behaviors of mountain gorillas in the wild and taking pictures.
You will get back to your accommodation later in the evening. At the lodge, have a relaxed moment with your colleagues, freshen up and later, retire for the night.
Day 3: Departure from Rushaga
At leisure, enjoy a hefty morning breakfast and after, you will check out of the lodge in Rushaga. The driver guide will pick you up and your return journey begins early, driving for 8-9 hours via Mbarara city.
