Overview
3 days Mgahinga golden monkey trek. This tour will create memories for visitors interested in trekking golden monkeys in Uganda. Spending an hour in the presence of these primates is awesome and memorable since they are so playful. This tour is combined with culture through forest cultural trail of the Batwa pygmies.
This experience allows tourists to understand the life of the Batwa on how they used to live in the forest before they were evicted. Also l, make different stopovers including the unique one on the Uganda equator crossing point.
Detailed itinerary
Day1. Pick up from Kampala and head to Mgahinga NP
Depending on the agreed pick up point, meet and greet the driver guide who will take you through briefing about this tour plan. Immediately after attaining all the requirements, head to Mgahinga gorilla National park a journey that can last for 9 to 10 hours’ drive.
This park being known as “where gold meets silver”, this is the only protected area in Uganda where you can find mountain Gorillas and golden monkeys. Enjoy the landscape through your window, make stopovers for lunch abs stretching and more. Arrive at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day2. Golden monkey trekking and forest cultural trail
Breakfast will be served in the morning and then head to the park offices to attend briefing session. This is the time where you receive rules and regulations, materials required, assignment of the park ranger guide and more. Begin the search of these beautiful and unique primates and locate them in the bamboo forests.
Spend an hour in their presence and you create memories through capturing photos and recording videos. After the experience, head back to the lodge and later on enjoy a forest cultural trail by the Mutwa guide and the park ranger.
Visit cases, enjoy hunting demonstrations, learn about the food and herbs which were used by the Batwa pygmies as they used to live in the forest. Return to the lodge for dinner and prepare for the next morning departure.
Day3. Head back to Kampala, en route stopover at the equator line
Leave the hotel after breakfast as you head back to Kampala. While on the way, enjoy the rolling hills and then a stopover at the point where equator crosses Uganda. At this point, be served with lunch and then proceed to Kampala to be dropped at any agreed point.
