2 days Bwindi gorilla tour via Kigali is ideal for visitors with limited time or on budget and they want to be part of the exhilarating mountain gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Starting your gorilla trip from Kigali is perfect way to save time as it will take you around 4-5 hours to drive up to the park unlike if you began your road trip from Kampala where you will spend about 8-9 hours.
On this special 2-day tour, expect to enjoy the best of Bwindi gorilla trekking in any of the 4 sectors –Ruhija, Buhoma, Nkuringo and Rushaga. In each of these sectors, there are fully habituated gorilla families to be visited by maximum of 8 visitors.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali capital to Bwindi
After the hefty breakfast, you will meet the driver guide for a short briefing and later, drive out of the beautiful Kigali city. Embark on a scenic drive to Chanika border which gives you access to Kisoro and is ideal for you to connect to the Southern sectors of Bwindi (that is Rushaga and Nkuringo). Katuna border offers access to Kabale where you will connect to Buhoma or Ruhija sector.
You will proceed to the lodge in or around Bwindi National Park once you have cleared with the park officials. At the lodge, you will have adequate time to relax and also to put together everything you require during the next day’s actual gorilla trekking.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi & departure
A delicious cup of tea/coffee be enjoyed at the comfort of the lodge and after, you will head to the briefing area. Leave your accommodation with a pack of lunch because it will be a long day and the entire adventure requires some level of fitness.
Today’s guided gorilla trek will run for about 2-6 hours but this will be determine by a number of factors including the nature of habitat, location of gorillas and your speed of walking.
The beauty about this thrilling adventure is that once you have located a family of mountain gorillas, you will be allowed to stay with them for a maximum of 1 hour.
After you have explored in depth about behaviors of mountain gorillas, begin trekking back for you to be awarded a certificate. From here, connect to the lodge to enjoy lunch and later, check out and you will be transferred back to Kigali.
