Erebero alone is a local dialect meaning “a place where you can see far”. The vision for Erebero hills lodge, is to create a forest buffer zone of about 45 acres of forests surrounding the lodge and this will refrain the Batwa culture who had lost hope due to being evicted from the forests, but with this plan, the Batwa people will be able to go to these forests where they feel a sense of belonging and to the forests, it is a stronghold and ancestral region of the Batwa and their origin.
The lodge was built using bamboo, which can easily be renewed and is compatible back to the soil. Erebero Hills Lodge was built in collaboration with the Pablo Luna Studios from Bali and the shape of the lodge reflects the rolling hills that surround it. The lodge provides easy access to the park for gorilla trekking in Bwindi, and after gorilla trekking, tourists can engage in community activities, especially with the Batwa.
