Overview
5 days Rwanda gorillas and wildlife safari is an amazing gateway to the wilderness where you will encounter the beauty of Rwanda’s exceptional safari experiences. On this gateway, expect to visit Akagera national park which is a home to Africa’s big 5, you will visit Volcanoes national park and thereafter, you will crown your safari with Kigali city tour.
Day by Day Program
Day 1: Pickup and transfer to Akagera National Park
On the first encounter with our driver guide, he will greet you, take you through the itinerary, thereafter you will immediately set off for Akagera national park. It is about 2hours and 30minutes drive from Kigali city which is the Capital of Rwanda. On your arrival in the park, you will first connect to your lodge, check in, have lunch and start admiring the beauty that surrounds the lodge. You will take pictures, enjoy the stunning views of Akagera national park. You will have an overnight in the place surrounded by wildlife sounds and you will feel disconnected from the rest of the world.
Day 2: Game drive and Boat Cruise on Lake Ihema
A beautiful day is here where you will wake up on a scrumptious breakfast, you will meet your driver guide and head to the park headquarter to get register, get a ranger guide and proceed to the jungle to catch the animals when they are still very active. You will be welcomed by herds of buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards and rhinos. Akagera national park is a home to both black and southern white rhinos. You will have an encounter with other wildlife for example giraffes, zebras, antelopes, birds and stunning rangelands. You will later retire to the lodge for relaxation, lunch and then in the evening get ready to have a boat cruise on Lake Ihema. Lake Ihema is a home to aquatic life for example crocodiles, hippos, birds and amazing views of the lake. You will enjoy sunset pictures and thereafter call it a day. You will retreat to the lodge, have dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Check out and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On the 3rd day, of the 5 days only Rwanda gorillas and wildlife safari, you will wake up on a scrumptious breakfast, check out of the lodge, meet your driver guide and transfer to Volcanoes national park which is in the northwestern part of the country. You will have lunch en-route, arrive in the park in the afternoon hours, check in the lodge and relax. Akagera national is part of the Virunga massif and it is close to Mgahinga gorilla national park of Uganda. You will have dinner and enjoy a peaceful night.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking and Ibyi’wacu Cultural tour
On this day, you will wake up on a scrumptious breakfast or grab a cup of coffee, meet your driver guide and transfer to Kinigi park headquarters and this is where you will be briefed about gorilla trekking in Rwanda. You will be assigned a gorilla family to track and the ranger guide as well. You will thereafter head to off-the beaten paths of volcanoes national park. You will have an encounter with mountain gorillas where you will be allowed 1hour to spend in their presence as you take fascinating pictures and videos. Birds will be singing for you, you will be listening to all unique characters about gorillas and the rest of the park wildlife in volcanoes national park by the experienced ranger guide. You will later head back to the park headquarters to receive your gorilla trekking certificate, your driver guide will also be waiting for you and then transfer you back to the lodge. You will freshen up and then in the evening head to the Ibyi’wacu cultural tour. You will engage in the Rwandan culture for example dancing, singing, naming among others. They will take you through the ancient lifestyle and surely you will like the experience. Retire to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer back to Kigali, City tour and departure
On the last leg of your safari, you will greet your intestines with a scrumptious breakfast, check out of the lodge, meet your driver guide and transfer back to Kigali. You will arrive in Kigali city and engage in the city tour. Expect to visit different artisans, Kigali Genocide memorial center, different markets to catch a feeling of the local Rwandese. You will have a scrumptious lunch in the city, thereafter the driver guide will either drop you at the Airport for your flight back home or to different destination or he will drop you in Kigali city and this will mark the end of your trip in Rwanda.
