This 3 Days Uganda chimpanzee trekking safari will take you to Kibale forest national park one of Uganda’s remarkable National parks found in Western Uganda covering an area of 776km2 with the highest concentration of primates over 13 species and home of more than 1450 chimpanzees a haven for the primate lovers. Kibale national park will permit you to see some of the beautiful butterflies and part of the 375 bird species among which are great blue Turacos, green breasted Pitta, Dusky crimson wing, red-faced woodland purple-breasted sunbird among others. You will have lunch en-route at Fort portal tourism city on your way to the park and at Igongo cultural Centre on your way back to Entebbe marking end of the 3days Chimpanzee trekking.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale forest national park
The 3days Chimpanzee trekking safari will begin from your hotel in Entebbe where the company driver will meet, greet and brief you about the 3 days chimpanzee safari after which you will set off to Kibale Forest national park driving 276km to Western Uganda where the park is found via Kampala-Mubende highway. You will have a stopover for lunch at Fort portal tourism city that will give you view of the Rwenzori Mountain ranges and the Omukama’s (king of Toro) palace as you continue with the journey past the spectacular land scape and tea plantations arriving the park late evening. You will get in at the park on presenting the chimpanzee trekking permit, check in at Kibale forest camp, have dinner and rest for the night.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and a guided nature walk
You will have an early morning delightful breakfast and then be picked by your company driver who will transfer you to Kanyachu visitor’s Centre for a briefing about the chimpanzee trekking from where you will be allocated well trained and experienced park guides who will lead you through the forest and help you track the chimpanzee family since they well know areas in which the chimpanzees can be found. You will take about 30minutes to 4 hours trekking the chimpanzee family and you will be given 1hour with the family when found. The 1hour with the chimpanzee family is a memorable adventure you will never forget seeing the Chimpanzees playing, feeding, gathering fruits, fighting among others. You will return to the lodge for lunch and then head for an afternoon guided nature walk through Bigodi wetland sanctuary where you will get to view various colorful butterfly species, over 375 bird species that include Abyssinian ground Thrush, Masked Apalis, Rwenzori Apalis, common waxbill, African Fire Finch, monkeys such as the red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, mangabeys, blue monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys and many more after which you will return to the lodge, have dinner and rest for the night.
Day 3: Transfer back to Entebbe.
You will enjoy a delicious morning breakfast at 8:00am, check out of the lodge and then start on your journey to Entebbe via Mbarara high way where you will have a stopover at Igongo cultural Centre for lunch and a mind catching cultural experience. You will then embark on to your journey arriving in Entebbe late evening at your hotel thus marking end of the 3days chimpanzee trekking safari.
