On this tour, you will visit 3 of the most visited national parks in Rwanda and these are; Akagera national park, Volcanoes national park and Nyungwe forest national park. The tour will expose you to Africa’s Big 5 animals, mountain gorillas and chimpanzees. Each national park is famous for its unique wildlife. Day by Day Program
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to the Hotel
Upon arrival, our company representative will pick you from the Airport, greet you warmly and thereafter transfer you to the booked hotel in Kigali. If you arrive in Kigali early, you will engage in city tour where you will visit the Kigali Genocide memorial center, visit local markets, have a delicious meal, relax and have an overnight stay.
Day 2: Check out and Transfer to Akagera National Park
You will be excited to wake up on a scrumptious breakfast, check out of the lodge and head to Akagera national park which is located in the Northeastern part of Rwanda and this is where you will have an encounter of Africa’s Big 5. On your way to Akagera, expect to have fascinating views of the rolling hills, settlement patterns of people of Rwanda, and amazing vegetation. Arriving in the park will be in the afternoon, connect to your booked lodge, check in, enjoy a hot meal and relax at the lodge. You will feel so disconnected from the rest of the world but yet relieving.
Day 3: Game Drive and Boat Cruise on Lake Ihema
Welcome to a beautiful day, where you will have a scrumptious breakfast, meet your driver guide and head to the park headquarters where you will pick the ranger guide and dive deeper into the jungle to catch the animals when they are still very active. You will be welcomed by herds of buffaloes, elephants, lion prides that will be roaming in the open savanna, you will encounter leopards, rhinos and these complete the circle of Africa’s big 5. Expect to see giraffes, hyenas, elands, bushbucks and waterbucks, birds among others, you will as well visit different kopjes for scenic view and thereafter you will retire to the lodge to freshen up and in the evening go for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema. This will be another experience where you will see buffaloes, elephants and hippopotami swimming in the same pool. Crocodiles will be seen as well and birds too. Retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park and Ibyi’wacu Cultural Tour
You will wake up on a lazy breakfast, check out of the lodge, meet your driver guide and transfer to Volcanoes national park which is a home to mountain gorillas. The park is located in the northwestern part of the country and this means you will traverse Rwanda from Northeast to Northwest and the driving time is about 5hours. You will have lunch en-route and proceed to the park, connect to your lodge, check in and engage in Ibyi’wacu cultural tour where you will have a touch of Rwandan culture, connect back to the lodge, check in and enjoy and overnight stay.
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Arise in the morning, grab a scrumptious breakfast, and meet your driver guide who will transfer you to the park headquarters to have a briefing about gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park. You will be assigned a gorilla family to track and have 1hour in their presence with the help of the ranger guide who will help you to locate the gorillas. You may decide to go with a porter or not but we encourage to go with a porter to carry your luggage. After the mighty encounter with gorillas, you will return to the lodge, freshen up, check out and transfer to Nyungwe forest national park. arriving in Nyungwe will be in the evening hours, go directly to the booked lodge, check in, have dinner and an overnight.
Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking and Relaxation
Another beautiful day is here where you will wake up in the morning, greet your intestines with a scrumptious breakfast, meet your driver guide and head to the park headquarters to be briefed about chimpanzee trekking etiquettes. You will enjoy the chimpanzee troupes especially seeing them come from their nests, their babies will be jumping all over and excited to see you. Such a moment is so rare and amazing as well. You will retire to the lodge for relaxation and dinner. If you to do a canopy walk you are free to have an engagement in the canopy walk where you will have a clear view of the park, meet the monkeys and birds as well.
Day 7: Check out and Departure
On the last leg of your trip, you will enjoy a mouthwatering breakfast, meet your driver guide and head to Kigali.
