Day by Day Program
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Akagera National Park
On the first leg of your safari, our company representative will be waiting to receive you at Kigali International Airport, he will greet you, take you through the itinerary and then hit the road to Akagera national park which is in the Northeastern part of Rwanda. Akagera national park is the largest national park in Rwanda and a home to Africa’s Big 5 animals. Driving to the countryside is so fascinating where you will be impressed seeing the rolling hills of Rwanda and this will confirm to you why Rwanda is called the land of a thousand hills. Upon arrival in the park, you will connect to your lodge, check in, enjoy a scrumptious lunch and relax at the lodge.
Day 2: Game drive and Boat Cruise in Akagera National Park
Another beautiful day is here, where you will wake up in the early morning, grab a cup of coffee, meet your driver guide and head to the jungle with a ranger guide. You will be welcomed by herds of buffaloes, elephants, lion prides, leopards and rhinos thus making the list of Africa’s Big 5 complete. You will have an encounter with other wildlife for example antelopes, giraffes, birds and beautiful sceneries especially when the sun set falls on savanna golden grasslands, making the scenery out of this world. You will later retire to the lodge, have lunch and in the evening at 3pm, engage in a boat cruise on Lake Ihema. You will spot crocodiles, buffaloes and elephants will be swimming on the lake shores, water birds will be also chirping as you enjoy the cruise. You will return to the lodge in the evening at dusk, have a scrumptious dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Check out and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On the third leg of your rip, you will check out of the lode after a mouthwatering breakfast, meet your driver guide and embark on yet another adventure. It is about 5hours drive from Akagera national park to Volcanoes national park, the experience is different right from the parks’ formation and history. You will dive into deeper forests of Volcanoes, check in to the booked lodge probably Bisate lodge or depending on where to stay in Volcanoes national park, check in, enjoy a meal and then relax.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
Arise in the early morning, greet your intestines with a scrumptious breakfast, meet your driver guide and head to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking etiquettes. It is here where you will be assigned a gorilla family, a ranger guide who will help you to locate the gorilla family and after locating it, you will spend 1hour in the total silence, observing and reading the characters of the mountain gorillas. You will take pictures and videos, enjoy the thick forests and then return to the lodge to freshen up and transfer to Nyungwe forest national park.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe and Canopy Walk
On this fifth day, you will arise in the morning, grab yourself a scrumptious meal, meet your driver guide and head to Uwinka visitor’s center where you will be briefed about chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe forest national park and this is where you will assigned a troupe to track with a help of a ranger guide who will take you to the jungle to locate the troupe. You will be allowed 1hour in the presence of chimpanzees, you will enjoy their presence and then later head back to the lodge with memories, freshen up and in the evening you will go for a canopy walk. This is another fascinating experience where you will rub shoulder with tree tops, birds and monkeys. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Check out and Departure
You will wake up on a lazy breakfast, check out of the lodge, meet your driver and head to Kigali. If you have time, you will do a city tour, visit different markets, have lunch and then transfer to the Airport thus marking the end of your 6 days Akagera national park and Volcanoes national park safari.
